It’s my party

Posted on

It was my birthday this week. I’m a big fan of birthdays, mine and other people’s.

It was particularly good one this year (although last year wasn’t too shabby either). Drinks and morning tea with lovely friends, a family lunch with my the family where the nephews wanted to know what games we had planned. We played Musical Statues and then they popped 40 party poppers!

On the actual day my lovely husband took me out for lunch in the sunshine and gave a beautiful necklace he bought for me in Cambodia. Instead of a card he madeĀ  an acrostic poem of the entire alphabet about me. *LOVE*

Outfit breakdown:

Silk dress – second hand; belt – borrowed from Mum; tights – birthday present from one of my GFs; shoes – Number 1 (very old); necklace – birthday gift; birthday high – stylist’s own.

(Considering the need for more makeup after seeing these photos. I am getting on a bit I guess!)

Pop’s birthday dinner

We are well and truly back in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s taken a while to adjust I have to confess although there is something so nice about being somewhere where people know you, where you can run into someone at the local shops…

But until we get back on our feet again, we’re in limbo mode again. But limbo with perks. We’re camping out in my parent’s spare bedroom where we receive free board in return for cooking. It’s an arrangement that makes everyone happy, especially after a year without an oven!

It was my Pop’s birthday this week and he requested fish, a yummy salad and new potatoes. So we delivered spicy walnut encrusted fish, orange and parsley salad, green salad with lots of yummy bits and new potatoes with just a little butter. I also made Tiramisu from my Italian friend’s home recipe, the kind that’s been passed down from generation to generation… delish. (Although not a pretty site after it’s been demolished by a spoon. Then it turns into Tirami-suvius.)

Then we road tested the new crystal glasses we gave him with a snifter each of Laphroaig. Not a bad night really, and nice to say Happy Birthday in person rather than on Skype.
